Kenneth (Kenny) Henning, age 90, of Alexandria died on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at Knute Nelson.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, West Miltona, where he was a life time member. Burial and Military Honors will take place at the church cemetery in the Summer of 2021.
Kenny was born on November 30th, 1930. He was the son of Robert and Agnes (Timm) Henning. Kenny attended School Dist. #46 and Parkers Prairie High School. On November 7th, 1953, he married Vergene Gesell. Two children were born to this union, Louise and Carl.
Kenny farmed with his father until he was drafted into the Army on December 8th, 1953. He served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Henning family farm. Kenny and Vergene raised their family and farmed there for 25 years. After selling their farm, Kenny began his Excavation Business and driving school bus for the Alexandria School Dist. He drove school bus for 33 years, a job he truly loved.
Kenny could strike up a conversation with anyone, be it a friend or stranger. He also made an effort to visit and keep in touch with extended family.
Kenny and Vergene had a passion for traveling. They visited all fifty states and fourteen foreign countries.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Jean, and brother-in-law, Ralph Hollis.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vergene; daughter, Louise (Gary) Dahl of Montrose, CO; son, Carl (Lori) Henning of Miltona, MN; two sisters, Shelbee Jean (Duane) Kaufman and Elaine Hollis, both of Alexandria. Also, surviving are his six grandsons, Matthew (Jeanette) Dahl, Tyler (Jessica) Dahl, Adam (Danielle) Dahl, Nathan (Amanda) Henning, Kyle Henning, Derek (Jenna) Henning; and eleven great grandchildren.
