Kenneth Willard Norlien was born on June 30, 1919 the son of Art and Christine (Johnson) Norlien in Solem Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. He attended country school in rural Kensington. Ken enlisted in the United States Navy and servied during WWII. On March 29, 1947 he was united in marriage to Doris Rorvig in Farwell, MN. The couple farmed in the Farwell area and raised eight children. He enjoyed reading, farming, trapping, tinkering and fixing things. Ken died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Hoffman Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman. He is survived by his children Sandra (Joy) Krienke, Barbara Norlien, Carol (Brian) Peterson, Bonnie Borgman, David Norlien, Brenda (Josh) McCann, and Kevin (Kim) Norlien. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, brothers, Stanley (Mary) Norlien and Arley (Ruby) Norlien. Ken was preceded in death his parents, Art and Christine; wife, Doris; daughter, Diane Hagen. A committal service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Pike Lake Cemetery with the Reverend David T. Wahlin, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 87, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 936 and the Minnesota National Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
