Kevin Lyle Eddy was born January 24, 1957 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Lyle and Violet (Johnson) Eddy. Kevin grew up in the Brandon/Garfield area. He graduated from Brandon High school and continued his education at Detroit Lakes Technical College where he received a degree in diesel mechanics.
While still in school Kevin began working for Paul Steinke Enterprise in Detroit Lakes driving trucks. Later Kevin worked for Huckadahl Trucking in Audubon, MN for several years repairing trucks.
In 1981 Kevin returned to the Garfield area where he began farming. On April 16, 1983 Kevin was united in marriage to Janell Wibstad. The couple made their home on the farm and were blessed with three children, Chad, Cole and Carley. Kevin worked together with his brother, raising crops and dairy cows. At one time or another he had about every kind of animal anyone would find on a Minnesota dairy farm.
Kevin was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Church.
He loved boating, motorcycling and snowmobiling. He made many trips to Sturgis, SD on his motorcycle. Going out west was special for Kevin. He liked to go snowmobiling in Yellowstone and always thought about heading to the wild west when he retired. Kevin enjoyed working with horses. He knew how to drive them and took pleasure from giving friends and family sleigh rides or driving someone to their final resting place in a horse drawn hearse. He hunted carp with a bow and also enjoyed deer hunting in the fall. Kevin really enjoyed people. He could visit for hours about anything; he especially liked to visit while getting his farm chores done. Most important to Kevin was his wife, children and family; he loved spending time with them.
On Monday, December 29, 2014 Kevin died at the age of fifty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Eddy; son, Chad Eddy; sister-in-law, Lynnette Wibstad; and great niece, Norah Eddy.
