Kevin McCormick

August 15, 1961 — November 6, 2019

Alexandria

It is with a shattered heart that the family of Kevin McCormick wishes to announce his passing on November 6th, 2019, due to an automobile accident. Kevin was born on August 15th, 1961 to Ken and Joanne (Proulx) McCormick in St. Paul, Minnesota. They lived in Forest Lake until moving to Hinckley, MN in 1975. He graduated from Hinckley high school, and began working with his father’s custom log home business, and at Tobies’ restaurant in Hinckley. It was Tobies’ that he first met Pam and they were married June 27th, 1986.

Kevin continued his education and graduated with an associate’s degree in Architectural Drafting and began working in Commercial Convenience Store Design. He was gifted with the ability to visualize any project precisely, make that vision into a plan, and put that plan to action. Over the years his name was well known throughout the Upper Midwest for store design.

He was a man of many passions. His love for aviation was passed down to his children, as it was from his father.  He earned his pilot’s license on August 14th, 1990 and began flying to work destinations. Kevin built his own RV6, flew it, and was in the process of putting his engine into his second RV6-A. He competed in many triathlons and was an avid outdoorsman. Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and was a musician with the Spirit of Shalom Band where he played bass and drums with his beloved friends.

His love for his family fueled everything he did in his life. He treasured his time with them, and making memories with each of them was a top priority. Winter road trips to Big Sky happened each March and summers on Lake Latoka with family and friends were times that Kevin cherished, and will be continued in his memory. Numerous “south of the border” vacations with family and very close friends, that were always considered his family as well, have left countless fun filled and unforgettable memories.

He leaves behind the loves of his life: his wife Pam of 33 years, his children Matt (Pam), Jarad (Megan), Brandon (Katie), and Breckan. His beloved grandchildren: Alex, Tyler and Aiden. His brothers Mike (Tena) and Jeff (Lena) McCormick. His sister-in-law’s: Polly (Craig) Dolby and Barb (Robley Johnson) Patzoldt. His brother-in-law: Mike (Rhonda) Patzoldt. Nieces and nephews: Kyle, Kacey, Aron, Mikayla, Cole, Emma, Maddy, Cody, Nia, Brady and Brinn. His beloved hunting dog and partner, Banner, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Ryan McCormick.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
