Larry "Rody" DeFrance was born February 2, 1951 in Alexandria, MN the son of Loren and Rosella (Beckman) DeFrance. Larry grew up in Alexandria where he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1969.
In 1974, Larry met Toni Hazel and they were together for 42 years. He worked at KXRA radio in Alexandria for eleven years. He attended college at St. Cloud State University and received a degree in teaching. Larry taught special education for several years at Osakis Charter School and later retired for health reasons.
Larry loved baseball and played shortstop in the Resorter's League, mainly for Miltona. He was also a skilled mushroom hunter and had a soft spot in his heart for animals.
On Friday, July 1, 2016 Larry died at the age of sixty-five. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donny. Larry is survived by his wife, Toni Hazel of rural Alexandria; son, Shad Easter DeFrance of Alexandria; grandchildren, Krisandra, Ethan and Evan DeFrance; brothers, Jerry, Dale and Gary DeFrance; sister, Rose Marie DeFrance; and several nieces and nephews.
