LARRY W. PARSONS
Larry Warren Parsons, age 54, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Sartell, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 10th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born January 26, 1963 in Virginia, MN to Larry Flack and Judith Ann (Lenzen). Larry's father died when he was 3 years old. Judith then married William (Bill) Parsons who later adopted Larry. Larry attended school in the St. Cloud area and graduated from Tech High School.
After graduation he enlisted in the US Army, serving four years and achieving the rank of Sergeant. He attended St. Cloud State University after being honorably discharged and graduated with a degree in criminal justice and psychology.
Larry started working for Fingerhut while attending college and upon graduation moved into a Human Resources position. It is here he met Ann Waletski. They were married in 1989 and were blessed with the birth of two daughters, Kayla Marie and Heidi Lynn. Ann died suddenly at the age of 30 so Larry became both Mom and Dad to his girls.
In 1999, Larry began working for his father at Wiman Corporation, a subsidiary of Fingerhut. Larry held numerous management positions at Wiman until 2006 when the company was sold to RTP. At that time Larry transitioned to the Midwest Market Development Manager which was the position he held until his death.
Larry was involved with several Christian business men's groups. He developed deep relationships with these men and many have become lifelong friends. He was baptized as an infant but his baptism as an adult at New Life Christian Church on May 24, 2015 was especially meaningful to him.
Larry married Christi Nelson in 2013 and relocated to Alexandria. He quickly fell in love with the area and made it his home. One of his passions was bicycling and he loved Mellow Monday rides with the Big Ole Bike Club. Larry enjoyed working out and being fit but the people and friends he made along the way were what mattered most.
Some of his favorite activities included bible studies, campfires, boating, and family time and of course lake time and the impromptu potlucks that followed on Sunday afternoons. Larry was a big football fan and enjoyed talking sports with his daughters. He loved music, especially rock and roll. He loved to play "name that tune" and could tell you everything you wanted to know about every band and all of its history. As Larry would say, "I'm full of useless knowledge." He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that made us all laugh.
Larry is survived by his wife, Christi Nelson of Alexandria, MN, daughters: Kayla Parsons and granddaughter, Carley, St. Cloud, MN; Heidi Parsons, Minneapolis, MN; his parents, Bill and Judy Parsons, Bullhead City, AZ; and his sister, Tina (Dave) Yaeger, Sartell, MN.
Larry will be remembered as a man of God with a strong faith. He heard, "Well done my good and faithful servant" as he was welcomed home into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
