Laurel Swenson

OBITUARY Laurel Dale Swenson was born on February 16, 1943 in Bertha, MN the son of Arnold and Viola (Bjorklund) Swenson. He was baptized and confirmed into membership of Norunga Lutheran Church. Laurel was united in marriage to Mary Herzog on June 30, 1973. They made their home on Lobster Lake and later moved to Alexandria. Together they had four children Kristy, Justin, Suzanne, and Rebecca. Laurel worked for several companies in Alexandria, including Drymor, Buttweiler?s Do-All, and Alexandria Extrusion Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading Old West novels. He spent time helping out several senior families in Alexandria with repairs and yard work. Laurel is survived by his children: Kristy Larson, Justin (Kara) Swenson, Suzanne Swenson, and Rebecca Zastrow; four grandchildren Spencer Larson, Katlyn Burkey, Chelsey Swenson and Joslyn Swenson. He is also survived by his sisters Lola (Robert) Olson of Farwell and Karen (Harlan) Nelson of Ashby, sister-in-law Joan Swenson of Zimmerman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Viola Swenson of Farwell and his brother Rodney Swenson of Zimmerman. Laurel D. Swenson died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 68. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 1PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
