LaVerne Kathleen Shea

LaVerne was born on March 22, 1933, in Millerville, Minnesota, the daughter of Ferdinand and Louise (Revering) Hockert. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville. On October 23, 1954, she married Philip Shea at the Basilica in Minneapolis. They lived in Brooklyn Center where they raised their children. She worked part time for many years at Paul Brink and Associates.

Upon retiring in the fall of 2001, Phil and Laverne moved up to their lake home. She loved traveling, driving around on her golf cart, taking care of the yard and visiting all the relatives that lived around there. She was always there to help if you needed her. Phil passed on March 18th of 2010, and she did quite well traveling and taking care of herself. In 2018, she found love again and married Roger Wagner on October 21st.

They spent the winters at his home in Arizona until she got sick. In December of 2023, she moved to her son Tim’s home where Tim and Sheri have been taking care of her. She passed peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 13th, 2024, at Tim’s home at the age of 91.

LaVerne is survived by her husband Roger Wagner and his extended family, son Tim (Sheri Heuer), son Tom, daughter Tammy and Tom Malat, grandchildren Dan Malat, Melissa and Christian Medford, Keith and Kelly Shea, Derek Shea, and Jackie and Blake Anderson. Great grandchildren are Madison, Julianne, Clayton and MaryKate Medford, Landon and Mackenzie Shea, and Reese and Ellie Anderson. Her sisters are Phyllis (Mark Bramwell), Ardyce LeBlanc and Ginny Goble, plus many nieces and nephews.

Laverne was preceded in death by her son Todd at 3 1/2 years old, husband Phil, parents, siblings Gerald, Wilfred, Roger and Dolores Butterfield, nephews Rick Hockert and Joe LeBlanc.

A visitation will take place on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville, MN.  Fr. Jeremy Theis will be officiating.

Interment will be at the church cemetery.
