LaVonne Pendergrass

LaVonne Gail (Monson) Pendergrass was born on August 5, 1945, to Manville and Dorothy (Houska) Monson in Grafton, ND. She attended Rothsay High School. She married Bennie Tollefson on October 5, 1963. This union was blessed by two daughters, Kim and Kay. LaVonne and Bennie operated a dairy farm near Erhard, MN where LaVonne was a homemaker and mother. LaVonne married Robert Pendergrass on December 31, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Las Vegas till 1997 when they moved to North Branch, MN. They have resided in Alexandria since 2005. LaVonne enjoyed swimming, playing cards, shopping, belonging to the Red Hat Ladies and spending time with family. LaVonne died on December 31, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 68 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Alexandria; children, Kim (Jeff) Hoffman and Kay (Bob) Streitz both of Champlin; step children, Rick Pendergrass of New York City, Rhonda (Jim) Tryon of Maplewood, Roxanne (Curt Nguyen) Pendergrass of Inver Grove Heights, Kelly (Tim) Lynaugh of Cambridge, Josh Pendergrass of New Brighton, and Holly Pendergrass Salk of Elk River; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Monson of Fergus Falls; brothers, Ronald (Eldora) Monson and Allen Monson both of Fergus Falls; many nieces and nephews; and many friends and extended family members. LaVonne is preceded in death by brother, Marty; first husband, Bennie; and father, Manville. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Inurnment will be at Kinkead Cemetery at a later date. Honorary urn bearers were LaVonne?s grandchildren. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
