Lawrence Clifford ?Cliff? Hedeen Jr, born on May 14, 1922 in Carlos Township, MN, He was the only child of Lawrence Sr. and Esther (Johnson) Hedeen. At age 3 his family moved to St. Paul where he later attended Galtier Elementary and the Woodrow Wilson High School in St. Paul. Baptized at Svea Lutheran, St. Paul. Confirmed at Zion Lutheran, St. Paul. Cliff played clarinet, trombone and saxophone and organized his own ?Big Band? while still in high school. He joined the Army May 1943, shortly before his graduation from Macalester College, St. Paul. He served with General Eisenhower?s headquarters (SHAEF) in France and Germany as a courier and interpreter. After his discharge from the Army, he attended the University of Minnesota Law School. He then worked as a lawyer for the Standard Oil Company in Minneapolis, New York and Chicago, retiring in 1984. In 1947, Cliff married Arline Osgard. The couple was blessed with two children, Carol and Stanley. Both Arline and Carol died from cancer, Carol at age of 51. On June 22, 1991, Cliff was united in marriage to Gladys Ost at Immanuel Lutheran, Parkers Prairie. They resided in Mesa and Gold Canyon, AZ spending summers in Parkers Prairie. They recently relocated to Alexandria. Cliff enjoyed traveling, playing golf, visiting friends, reading and staying abreast in current affairs. He was involved in civic activities and participated in church events. He was a devoted husband and father. He was loyal to God and to his country and thanked Jesus for his many blessings. Cliff will be truly missed. Cliff died on January 13, 2010 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Gladys; son Stanley (Gail) Hedeen of Beaverton, OR; four grandchildren Suzanne (Patrick) Cruz, Daniel (Candice) and Anthony Hedeen and Alexandra Trapp (Carol's daughter); stepchildren Milton (Kathy) Ost, Gary (Yvonne) Ost, Allen (Marcy) and Debra (Steve) Ost-Olsen; seven step grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Lawrence Sr. and Esther; wife Arline; and daughter Carol. A memorial service will be held 10 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment will be held 3 pm, Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Grandchildren of Cliff and Gladys will be honorary urn bearers. Memorials preferred to American Legion Vet Connection (program to assist returning vets with reintergration). Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria,
