Lee Dennis Fielder was born on September 23, 1939 in Aitkin, MN to Francis and Eleanor (Larson) Fielder. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin, MN. Lee graduated from Aitkin High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 where he was stationed in M�nster, Germany. While stationed there he made time to travel to Paris, France; Copenhagen, Denmark; and across Germany. He also served in the Army Reserve. Lee was united in marriage to Shirley Lee Sogard on September 24, 1962 where they eloped to Miller, SD. Their married life began in Minneapolis and they were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie in 1969. The family moved to Coon Rapids in 1972 then to Alexandria in 1989 on Maple Lake. Lee worked in metal manufacturing and retired as a plant manager at Standard Iron. Lee was a member of the Constellation Lodge #81 and the Alexandria Area Shrine Club and Calliope where he enjoyed riding the 4-wheelers in parades and in the Calliope. He was also an active member at First Lutheran Church. Lee loved traveling, as he and his wife, Shirley traveled to Canada, Germany twice and all across the United States. He really enjoyed his trips to the North Shore and the beaches in Florida. Lee was an avid snowmobiler and even raced. At the age of 40 Lee took up downhill skiing and planned to ski until he was 99. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, canoeing, and being a rock collector. Most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. Lee died on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Grand Arbor at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley of Alexandria; daughter, Stephanie (Steve) Heseltine of Alexandria; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ian and Lauren Heseltine; siblings, Mike (Liz) Fielder of Frenchtown, MT, Dianne (David) Moore of Plymouth, MN, and Tom (Peg) Fielder of Aitkin, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Eleanor; parents-in-law; other relatives and cherished friends. A celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Marilee Bergerson officiating. Interment was held in Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
