Lee Sundblad was born May 4, 1946, in Alexandria, Minnesota the son of Walter and Ruth (Lindstrom) Sundblad. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. Lee served his country during Vietnam War in the United States Air Force.
Lee was united in marriage to Joyce Anderson on March 1, 1969. After their marriage the couple lived in the Twin Cities where they raised their two daughters Jodi and Julie. The girls remember sitting on their father’s lap reading the comics and in their opinion he made the “best” beer battered fish. In 1982, the family moved to Williston and then to Mandan. In 1999, the couple retired to Alexandria and lived on Blackwell Lake where he enjoyed fishing and entertaining family and friends.
Lee traveled the world over through the military, Antarctica as a Power Plant Operator then through his work as a Diesel Mechanic in the Oil Industry. He was an excellent craftsman with wood and was a very handy man who could fix anything. His pride and joy was his grandson, Keon. Lee had a love for animals, telling jokes and his morning coffee was a must.
Lee died on Sunday, January 4, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters: Jodi (Dave) McGarvey of Big Lake, MN, Julie (Charles) Eder of Bismarck, ND
; grandson, Keon; brothers: Harlan (Carole) of Mayer, MN, John (Marianne) of Cokato, MN; sister, Mary (Guy) Ekola of Garfield; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church. Military honors were by American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936, VVA Post #235 and Minnesota National Honor Guard. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
