Lenore Marie Peterson

Lenore M. Peterson,  age 92 formerly of Miltona, passed away at her residence at Windmill Ponds in Alexandria on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria at 11:00 AM with a public visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Camp Ripley National Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota at a later date. 

Lenore Marie (Peters) Peterson was born on May 14, 1932 to Herbert and Betty (Hadac) Peters on the family farm near Jordan, Minnesota. She attended school at North High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met her future husband, Roger Peterson. 

Lenore and Roger were married in Minneapolis on October 11, 1952. For several years the couple lived in Long Beach, California while Roger was in the United States Navy. Following Roger’s honorable discharge from the service, the family moved back to Plymouth, Minnesota where Lenore worked for the Wayzata School District. In 1986, after Lenore’s retirement, the couple moved to their lake home on Lake Miltona. During this time, Lenore enjoyed lake life and volunteering in the gift shop in the Alexandria hospital. She also enjoyed taking each of her six grandchildren on bus trips. 

Roger and Lenore enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Roger’s passing in February of 2004. Lenore is survived by her children: Steven (Barb) Peterson, Gregory (Cindy) Peterson, Michael Peterson; grandchildren: Melissa Peterson, Brittany Peterson, Michael Peterson (Shannon Hogan, and her daughter “Dot”), Justin Peterson, Corinne (Zach) Yurich, Danielle (Jared) Johnson; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; and many other beloved family and friends.
