LeRoy Anderson

LeRoy “Sonny” Anderson was born September 9, 1934 in Northwood, North Dakota to Harry and Melvina (Grande) Anderson. He attended Northwood Public Schools. On July 10th, 1953 he married Geneva C. Johnson from rural Northwood (Logan Center). LeRoy farmed for several years and worked in various other operational capacities before working with Ecolab (Lystad’s) in 1975. While working with Ecolab he was recognized for numerous accomplishments for dedication and achievement. He retired from Ecolab in September 1999.
LeRoy enjoyed working in the yard, fishing and was an avid hunter prior to his retirement. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.
LeRoy succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the Douglas County Hospital, Alexandria, Minnesota, surrounded by his family on January 9, 2015 at the age of 80. He is survived by his Wife of 61 years; two daughters, Deborah J. Fairbanks and her husband Craig W. Fairbanks of Murrieta, CA; son-in-law Kim I. Lykken of Saint Cloud, MN; Roberta L. Lerfald and her husband Darrell (Buck) Lerfald of Fargo, ND; sons Dean A. Anderson of Gold Canyon, AZ; and Darren L. Anderson and his wife Lisa K. Anderson of Stafford, VA; Grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Clark; Corey Fairbanks; Shea Lykken; Travis Lykken; Ericka (Lon) Mlnarik; Kristen (Casey) Lindgren; Tyson (Kelsey) Lerfald; Nils Lerfald; Jonathan Jackson; Elizabeth Anderson; Jacquelyn Anderson; and Sydney Anderson; 11 great grandchildren; and three sisters and two brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda J. Lykken; grandson Spencer Anderson; and great grandson Jacob Lykken.
A funeral service was held Thursday, January 15th at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Internment was at Memorial South Cemetery, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
