Les Hermanson was born January 7, 1920 in Brandon, MN the son of Reuben and Mayme (Lindquist) Hermanson. Les grew up and was schooled at Brandon where he has been a lifelong resident. On August 17, 1941 Les was united in marriage to Hazel Thompson at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Brandon. Les worked as a truck driver for Roy Strom Trucking out of Brandon. He hauled cattle from the area down to the stockyards in South St. Paul, MN. In the early 1980?s Les began driving bulk oil for Cenex. In 1992, at the age of 72, Les retired from Cenex. He continued driving as a volunteer for Rainbow Rider. Les just loved to be driving somewhere. Les enjoyed fishing in both summer and winter. He knew where to find the walleyes even when the ice was only an inch or two thick. Les liked spending time making the yard look nice on his riding lawnmower. He was very active with the Brandon Lions club where he was a charter member. Les was also very active at St. Petri Church. He served on the church council many times and was active with the cemetery board. Whenever the church was having an event Les was always eager to participate. Most important to Les was time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Les died at the age of eighty-eight years. His son, Roger Hermanson, preceded him in death. Les is survived by his wife, Hazel; son, Doug Hermanson and wife, Yvonne, of Alexandria; grandchildren Randy, Reed, Michael and Karri Hermanson; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Jerod, Miah, William and Nathan Hermanson; three brothers, Donald Hermanson and wife, Audrey, of Thief River Falls, MN, Wayne Hermanson and wife, Margaret, of Isanti, MN and Dayton Hermanson and wife, Yvonne, of Brandon, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
