Lila M. Cook was born on June 8, 1908 in Trent, South Dakota the daughter of Bert and Christina (Konegni) Eastman. She graduated from Trent High School and then married Casper Cook. Together they farmed near the Minnesota South Dakota border by the town of Pipestone, MN and raised four sons Joseph, Dave, Roger, and Gerald. Lila took care of her family and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers on the farm. Lila and Casper moved into Pipestone, MN and then soon after Casper?s death Lila moved to Alexandria. Lila loved sewing and quilting. She made many quilts and clothes for family and friends. Lila was very proud of her sons and their families. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Lila Margaret Cook died on Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Clearwater Suites of Alexandria at the age of 99. She is survived by sons; Joseph (Cora) Cook of Billings, MT; Gerald (Patricia) Cook of Pipestone, MN; Roger (Dorothy) Cook of Alexandria, MN; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Dave Cook; grandson Charles Cook; six brothers; and one sister. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD with the Reverend Stan Gruneich officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery in Flandreau, SD.
