OBITUARY Lillian Gladys (Storbakken) Berger was born on March 26, 1930 in rural Veblen, South Dakota, the youngest of seven children born to Alf and Rosetta (Edson) Storbakken. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She graduated from High School in Veblen in 1948 and then continued her education with three years of nurses training at St. Luke?s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Lillian worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years until she suffered a stroke in 1962. Lillian was united in marriage to Erling Berger on December 15, 1951 in Veblen. They lived in Veblen, Roseburg, Oregon, and Fargo, North Dakota before moving to Alexandria, Minnesota in 1954. Two children were born to this union Steven and Susan. She lived and raised her children to be faithful in Christ. Her faith and the faith of her family were very important to her. She led by example and through her involvement at church. She loved to be baking and in the kitchen. Fresh buns and caramel rolls were her specialties along with rhubarb jelly and home canned fruits and green beans. Making lefsa with family created favorite memories with her grandchildren. Knitting and playing whist was also something she enjoyed. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Lillian Berger died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Knute Nelson at the age of 83 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Erling Berger of Alexandria; son Steven (Valerie) Berger of Millersville, Maryland; daughter Susan (David) Nelson of Alexandria; grandchildren Juliana Berger of Brooklyn, New York, Amanda (Joshua) Feist of Columbia Heights, MN, Stephanie Berger of San Diego, California, Maria (Eric) Haug of Alexandria, Marc (Ashley) Nelson of Carlos, Minnesota, Sarah (Tony) Erickson of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Amy (Jake) Tornquist of Duluth, MN; great grandchildren Alistair Feist, Makiah Haug, Anika Haug, Abigail Nelson, and Serena Tornquist; sister Ruth Nelson of Veblen, South Dakota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mable Realdsen, brothers Roy Storbakken, Carl Storbakken, Alvin Storbakken, and Leo Storbakken. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Eric VanScharrel officiating. Nancy Gesell was the pianist/organist and Doug Tatge was the soloist. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Joshua Feist, Eric Haug, Marc Nelson, Tony Erickson, Jake Tornquist, and Bob Nelson. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. www.andersonfuneral.net
