Lillian Norland

Lillian Hilda (Friedman) Norland was born on June 23, 1918 in Blue Mounds Township, Starbuck, Minnesota to Emil and Amanda (Runquist) Friedman. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Lake Emily Mission Covenant Church. She grew up in Pope County where she attended District 53 School. Lillian was her father?s ?little boy?, working side by side with Emil as they worked the family farm. Lillian was united in marriage to Clifford Norland on September 12, 1943. Clifford and Lillian lived in Alexandria for most of their 40 years of marriage. She and Clifford were members at First Lutheran Church since 1948. They were active in many ways, enjoying W.E.L.C.A., Bible Fellowship Groups, Leisure League, Altar Committee and Dorcas. Clifford died in April 1984. Lillian continued living in her home on N. Nokomis until July 2000, enjoying her garden and flowers. Lillian died on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Edgewood Vista at the age of 95. She leaves to join her husband, Clifford, parents, baby sister, Bertha, many cousins and friends. Lilian is survived by many relatives and close friends. A funeral service was held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Interment was at Indherred Lutheran Church Cemetery in Starbuck, MN.
