Linda was born in Canadian Texas and moved to Oregon as a child. Later, she went to X-Ray school in Eugene, Oregon. While working in Seattle, WA, she met her future sister-in-law who introduced her to the love of her life, Merv Mock. After a long-distance courtship, Linda joined Merv in Minnesota. After marriage, they moved to Virginia, MN. During their 9 years in Virginia, they built a house and had their 5 children.
Tired of the extremely cold north, they relocated to Alexandria, MN. Linda expanded her training to become a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and worked at Douglas County Hospital until her retirement.
We have so many wonderful memories of mom’s ability to work, raise five children and create an idyllic home life. Linda was known for her sheet pan pies, coffee cans full of oatmeal raisin cookies, tea-ring and a never ending amount of bars.
A fashionista at heart, Linda had a timeless fashion sense. Even in memory care, the staff would comment on her immaculately put together outfit and sparkly jewelry. Linda was extremely creative in her ability to make things happen and get what she wanted. Despite limited finances, she saved S&H green stamps which bought the family lamps, bedroom furniture, tools for Merv and carpentry encyclopedias.
Linda loved the lake and was often fishing and boating with Merv. Floating down the river near their house was one of her favorite activities. Linda also wanted her children to be exposed to tastes and cultures outside of MN. Crab from the Oregon coast, oysters or Asian and Mexican cuisine all contributed to our sense of wanderlust and adventure. Linda especially loved the Oregon coast and realized her dream of travelling to Paris. In memory care, she was referred to as “Miss Paris”.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Merv, Linda is survived by Michelle Tilley (Randy), Mary Wilhelmy (Mark), Michael Mock (Dasha), Matthew Mock (Sandy), Marlys Mock, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
