Linda Marie Rakowski

Linda Marie Rakowski, age 66, of Alexandria, MN passed away with family by her side on August 17th, 2024 at Centracare hospital in St. Cloud MN. Linda was born August 14, 1958 to Robert S. and Gladys E (Engebretson) Rakowski in Worthington, MN. Linda was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. The family moved to Madison, MN where Linda was confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Linda graduated from Madison High School in 1976. On June 25th, 1976 she married Mark Hansen, who was her neighbor growing up. They moved to Alexandria, MN and had two children Christopher and Kayla. Linda worked for many years with the Douglas County Sheriff Department on water patrol and with the Douglas County Ambulance as an EMT. Her career was cut short by multiple health issues which often resulted in frequent, lengthy, complicated hospital stays at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and Centracare in St. Cloud. Linda received a kidney transplant, and felt a strong connection to her kidney donor, Michael De Jesus, and his family. Linda attended memorials in his honor with his family and continued to keep in contact with them throughout her life.

Linda enjoyed woodworking, jewelry making, and wycinanki (intricate polish paper cutting artwork) which she shared with her grandkids. She was an avid collector of all things related to Holstein cows as she went by “G’ma Know”.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother and father, and ex-husband Mark. She is survived by her brother Mike (Joyce) Rakowski of Brainerd, MN; children Chris (Abby) Hansen of St. Cloud, MN and Kayla Serie of Alexandria, MN; Nephews Shawn (Carrie) Rakowski, and Jay Rakowski, and Niece Rachel Stoen; and grandchildren Josh Buse, Zachary, Kaitlin, and Kadrie Serie, Madison and Megan Hansen, Matthew and Mia Hansen.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren: Josh Buse, Zachary, Kaitlin, and Kadrie Serie, Madison and Megan Hansen, Matthew and Mia Hansen. 

In honor of Linda's memory, family, friends, and loved ones are invited to gather for Visitation at 12:00 PM on August 29, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory located at 659 Voyager Drive NW, Alexandria, MN 56308. Following the Visitation, a Memorial Service in celebration of Linda's life will take place on the same day from 1:00 PM.
