Linda Winters

Linda Diane Huismann was born August 1, 1945 in Melrose, MN, the daughter of Claus and Doris (McKibbon) Huismann. She was raised on a farm south of Sauk Centre, MN and attended school in Sauk Centre. Linda graduated from high school in Sauk Centre.
At age twenty Linda was joined in marriage to Robert J. Winters Sr.. She moved to the Des Moines, IA area for a few years before moving to Germantown, WI. She began working in nursing homes and hospitals. Linda was blessed with two children, Robert and James who she began raising in Des Moines, IA then in Germantown, WI. Later, a friend of Linda's convinced her to move to Grand Marais, MN. She worked for a hotel there. While in Grand Marais she fell in love with Minnesota's North Shore and the surrounding woods. She loved the outdoors. Linda then moved to Alexandria, MN at the request of another friend, where she has remained a resident. Linda worked for Wal-Mart in Alexandria until her retirement.
Linda was excellent at crocheting. She made many things for friends and family. She loved being able to go out to dinner and finish the evening with a stop at the Dairy Queen. Linda's family was very important to her, she loved having them get together and listen to them share good times.
On Tuesday, June 14, 2016 Linda died at the age of seventy years. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Winters Jr.; a brother, Harry Huismann; and three sisters, Lois Quistorff, Mavis Huismann and Henrietta Huismann. Linda is survived by her son, James Winters of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Paris Winters, Hannah Winters and Noah Winters; three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Emilie and Jack; brothers, LeRoy "Mac" Huismann of De Forest, WI and Rod Huismann and wife, Gwendolyn, of Gheen, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home. Reverend Andrea Olson will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Breckenridge, MN. Honorary pallbearers include all of Linda's nieces and nephews.
