Lloyd E. Floding age 84 of Alexandria died on Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. Cloud Veteran’s Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
OBITUARY
Lloyd Edwin Floding, 84, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully July 24, 2015. Lloyd was born on January 24, 1931, in Ida Township to Frank and Myrtle (Johnson) Floding. He was baptized the Svea Lutheran Church in Alexandria, graduated from country school and later received his high school GED.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1951 and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama. During his 10 years of service, Lloyd was a drill instructor, training troops on the rifle range. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant 1st Class.
On March 14, 1953, he and Mildred (Millie) Peterson were joined in marriage. In 2015, they celebrated 62 years together. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Roger, Janet, Katherine and Lorinda.
Upon leaving the military, he worked as a truck driver for Land O’Lakes, Berghuis Construction and then Alexandria Concrete until his retirement.
Lloyd enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family, fishing, camping and playing cards. Above all, Lloyd loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor, twinkling blue eyes and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; his three daughters: Jan (Terry) Howard of De Pere, Wisconsin, Kathy (Kevin) Olson of Alexandria, Lorie (Fred) Floding-Huss of Scandia. Lloyd cherished his seven grandchildren: Lisa (Steven) Zaun, Trevor (Kacy) Howard, Kayla (Chris) Lence, Christina (Kent) Parker, Kody Klimek, Steven Floding & Nicholas Floding; he adored his eight (soon to be nine) great gradchildren: Gavin Howard, Kenya Parker, Kaymen Parker, Elodie Howard, Baby Howard (due October 2015), Roman Zaun, Declan Zaun, Blakely Lence & Bennett Lence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Rueben & Clifford Floding; sister, Gladys Hoppe; son, Roger Floding.
