Lloyd Froemming

Lloyd Donovan Froemming was born on July 7, 1927 in Alexandria, MN to William A. and Minnie (Kloehn) Froemming. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Lloyd graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1945. Lloyd was united in marriage to Ardelle Dittberner on July 9, 1946 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Leaf Valley. To this union the couple was blessed with four children. Lloyd took over the family farm from his father. He also worked construction and carpentry jobs while farming. Later he began working at Garfield Lumber, as the yard manager, and subsequently became a partner in the lumberyard. He sold the farm acreage in the late 1960?s. In 1989, Lloyd started to retire, working at the lumberyard only in the summers. He fully retired in 1992. Lloyd loved woodworking and framed pictures right up till the end. Lloyd was a very active member at Ebenezer Lutheran Church ? teaching Sunday School, singing in the male choir, serving on the church board in different capacities, singing for weddings and funerals. Lloyd also served on many community boards including the Leaf Valley Township Board, Gardonville Telephone Company Board, and Leaf Valley Sportsman Club. Lloyd was also a member of Ducks Unlimited, several national hunting organizations, Pheasants Forever, Pope County Restoration, and more. He enjoyed hunting, (especially duck hunting) fishing, playing softball, traveling. He loved driving the back roads. Lloyd was a warm, kind man and loved being around people. Most importantly he loved his family and never missed a family event. Lloyd died on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Bethany Home in Alexandria, MN at the age of 83. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ardelle Froemming; children, Steven (Sandi) Froemming of Miltona, Judith Froemming of Minneapolis, and Tim (Vera) Froemming of Alexandria; grandchildren, Stacy (Linda) Froemming, Sheila Froemming (John Makosky), Sara (Brian) Chlian, Jenna (Justin) Smith, Mathew Dingmann, Lisa (Jon) Hennen, and Adam (Jenn) Froemming; nine great-grandchildren, Ella, Grace, Lily, Jaden, Julia, Christian, J.D., Walker, and Finley; sister, Leona Betterman; sister-in-law, Ella Froemming; and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Minnie; daughter, Linda Jean; brothers, Walter Froemming, Edwin (Ruth) Froemming; sisters, Adeline (Ernest) Kietzmann and Lonnie (Earl) Drussell; and brother-in-law, Elroy Betterman. t A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Leaf Valley with Reverend Dennis Angland officiating. Music was provided by organist, Kristi Wussow and soloist, Stacy Froemming. Interment was held in Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kim Johnson, Roger Dittberner, John McCabe, Bill Betterman, Darwyn Kietzmann, and Roger Froemming. Honorary Casket bearers were Lloyd?s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
