Lois Arlene Neuschwander was born October 6, 1925 in Redwood Falls, MN, the daughter of Lee and Nellie (Keister) Neuschwander. She was raised in Redwood Falls and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1944. Following her schooling Lois worked for the Redwood County extension agent. On September 6, 1946 Lois was united in marriage to Albert Flemmer in Redwood Falls. The couple made their home in Redwood County for four years before moving to Minnetonka, MN. While in Minnetonka Lois attended the University of Minnesota at Mankato where she received her Masters Degree in Education. While living in Minnetonka, MN she taught kindergarten for twelve years in Chanhassen, MN. In 1986 Al & Lois purchased her parents cottage on Lake Darling in Alexandria, MN. They built a new home on the site in 1992 and have continued to reside there. The couple spent several winters in Queen?s Valley, AZ with their daughter. Lois enjoyed traveling; she and Al traveled through England, Europe and the United States. Lois liked to keep up her education by reading anything and everything. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Other interest included hiking and being in the outdoors. Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alexandria. On Wednesday, May 7, 2008 Lois died at the age of eighty-two years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Slaymaker; two brothers, Donald and Art Neuschwander; and one daughter-in-law, Margaret Flemmer. Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert Flemmer of Alexandria; one daughter, Catherine Nell Fellmer Gulmon and husband, Rodger, of Queen Valley; two sons, Richard Flemmer of Fort Pierre, SD and Theodore Flemmer and wife, Judy, of Elk River, MN; and one grandson, Bryan Flemmer and wife, Kristin, of Maple Grove, MN. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home. Reverend Jeff Hansen officiated. Interment followed in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Women?s Cancer Fund. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
