Lois Marie Nelson was born November 21, 1936 in Lanesboro, MN, the daughter of William and Bertha Nelson, She was raised and schooled in Lanesboro. Following her graduation from high school Lois began working for a dentist in the Twin Cities. One of Lois? good friends moved to Forada, MN and Lois would often come to Forada for visits. While out walking one day Lois hitched a ride with a fellow named John Muzik. On November 5, 1955 Lois and John were united in marriage at the Catholic Church in Lanesboro. The couple made their home on Maple Lake at Forada. They were blessed with three children, Renee, Steve, and Lola. Lois and John were members of Forada Presbyterian Church until its closure. Lois was a volunteer. She volunteered her time with several different organizations including Lincoln Elementary School, the VFW Post 936 Auxiliary and the coffee shop at Bethany Home. Lois enjoyed spending time with her friends at coffee. She was also a good card player and loved to play any kind of cards with her friends and family. She liked to play Forada rummy with her grandchildren and looked forward to a game of poker. Lois liked to garden flowers and was an avid book reader. Her family was most important to her; she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Lois also loved traveling back to Lanesboro and visiting her family in that area. On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 Lois died at the age of seventy-six years. Her parents; one daughter, Renee Muzik, two brothers, James and David Nelson; and two sisters, Jean Bremseth and Margaret Nelson, preceded her in death. Lois is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, John Muzik of Forada; son Steve Muzik of Forada; daughter, Lola Randt of Forada; grandchildren, Jen Muzik, Tara (Stan) Nelson, Cassie (Randy) Schwartz, Travis Randt and Jared Randt; great grandchildren, Miranda Muzik, Christian, Isaiah and Rachel Schwartz, Mya Ward and Brayden Randt; brother, Robert Nelson and wife, Marlene, of Watford City, ND; and sisters, Mary Mindrum of Lanesboro, Ruth Ostrem and husband, Jim, of Lanesboro and Lola Williamson of Rock Falls, IL. A funeral service was held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Wayne Erickson officiated. Interment followed in the Hudson Cemetery near Forada. Honorary pallbearers included all of Lois? nieces and nephews. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
