Lois Rohn

Lois Elizabeth (Apland) Rohn was born on June 30, 1927 in Alsen, North Dakota to Reuben and Christina Apland. Lois graduated from Devils Lake, ND and upon graduation moved to Washington D.C. She went to work for the Pentagon during WWII under General Omar Bradley for two years and then moved back to Alsen, ND. Lois was united in marriage to Norman James Rohn on September 12, 1944 in East Grand Forks, ND. The couple moved to Minneapolis where Lois worked as a secretary for an insurance company while Jim was attending Radio School. They moved to Jamestown, ND where they started their family and where blessed with four daughters. Later they moved to Fargo where Lois worked as a secretary for the city halls engineers? office. In 1974, they moved to Alexandria, where Lois worked at the Alexandria Golf Club. Lois enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading and ballroom dancing with her favorite song being ?Sentimental Journey?. She especially loved playing bridge and had a wonderful sense of humor. Lois was a darling wife, loving mother, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois died on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 80. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; daughters, Marianne Dakota of Sacramento, CA, Polly and husband Dallas Jorgenson of Fargo, ND, Jean Rohn and husband Kelly Gallagher of Eden Prairie, MN; three grandchildren, Tonya Smith, Amber Jorgenson, and Dallas James Jorgenson; three great-grandchildren, Forrest Smith, Liam Smith, and Eve Kerr; brother, Ken Apland of Oregon; and sisters, Bernice Wipf of California and Ruth Ahlberg of Illinois. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Christina Apland, daughter, Julie Ann Rohn; brother, Sherman Severson; stepsister, Mildred Apland. A memorial service was held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Marilee Bergerson officiating and organist, Mark Graf. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
