Memorial Services for Lola ?June? Wheeland will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minnesota with Reverend Darryl Knappen, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery at Alexandria. Lola ?June? Wheeland, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Alexandria) entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus on July 14, 2011 in Holdrege. She was born on June 26, 1921 at Zipple Bay, Minnesota, the second of five children of Sam and Gladys (Block) McFarlane. As a young girl, the family moved to Alexandria, where her father was a farmer. After finishing school, she moved to Wheaton, Illinois, where she was employed as a nanny. On November 3, 1942, she married Robert M. Wheeland in Elgin, Illinois, and to this union was born two children: Douglas and Patricia. For over twenty years, they resided in West Chicago, Illinois and attended the West Chicago Bible Church. In 1964, the family moved to Alexandria, where her husband, Robert was a building contractor and they operated the Lake Lawn Resort on Lake L? Homme Dieu. The family attended First Baptist Church in Alexandria and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Robert passed away in 1995. In 2007, June moved to Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, to be near her family. Besides her husband, June was preceded in death by her parents; and her three brothers: Wesley, Clayton, and Stanley McFarlane. June is survived by her son, Douglas Wheeland and his wife, Karen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter, Patricia Bakke and her husband, Don of Holdrege; her sister, Donna Carlson and her husband, Don of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; grandchildren: Olivia Wheeland of Colorado Springs, Christina (Bakke) Klausen and her husband, Espen of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Melanie (Bakke) Maynard and her husband, Philip of Chicago, Illinois; great-granddaughter, Koreanna of Fond du Lac; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
