Lorraine "Putt" Muzik age 61 of Alexandria, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Douglas County Hospital surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will take place on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Shalom Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Shalom Lutheran Church from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Shalom Lutheran. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net

Lorraine "Putt" Ann Moen was born one of three daughters to Lawrence and June Moen of Moorhead, Minnesota on May 5, 1955. The family moved to Alexandria in 1970, where Putt graduated from Jefferson High School. In 1974 Putt and Ritchie Burkey were united in marriage. To this union two sons were born, Calen and Chad. Later their marriage dissolved, but the two remained friends raising their sons jointly. On November 19, 1988, Putt married her best friend, Michael Muzik, this marriage added two more children, Kellie and Kory.
Putt's entire career was in the customer service industry. She worked for Arrowwood Resort, Fingerhut, the "Muni", Hennen Furniture, Bell State Bank and Neighborhood National Bank. She loved people and served her community with her huge, caring and giving heart. Putt made everyone feel like they were special and the only person in the room. She loved to shop, but not for herself, she would rather give than receive. Putt was selfless, non-judgemental and always forgave others. She was the mom that always made sure her children were provided for, no matter how tight the budget. Putt loved holidays, always inviting everyone over to eat, make crafts and play games. She had a unique relationship with the father of her sons and always invited him to holidays so the entire family could celebrate together.
Putt loved spending time with her family and especially spoiling her grandchildren. She did everything with Mike and they enjoyed hopping into the motorhome and, traveling to country music festivals, the state fair and car races. All of these activities gave her ample opportunity to do one of her favorite things, people watching. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader and often shared words of encouragement and support to other patients who were fighting cancer right along side of her. Putt had an incredible faith in God that guided her through life's journey. She was one of those people who made you want to be a better person.
After a long battle with cancer this amazing wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the age of sixty-one.
She is survived by her husband of almost twenty-eight years, Mike Muzik; children, Calen (Heather Neugent) Burkey, Chad (Wendy Fletcher) Burkey, Kellie (Geoff Onken) Topper, Kory (Heather Gilbertson) Muzik; grandchildren, Katie Burkey, Tanner and Taylor Bode, Kya and Kamryn Burkey, Brittanie and Brodie Topper, Blake Nelson and Rylee Muzik; sister, Gladys Anderson; sons father, Ritchie Burkey; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Moen, June (Andy) Soli; sister, Jenny Nelson; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Ardelle Muzik Jr.; brother-in-laws, James Olson and Tommy Muzik III; infant granddaughter, Izabella.
A memorial service took place on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Shalom Lutheran Church with the reverend Justin Fenger presiding. A burial took place that day at Kinkead Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN.www.andersonfuneral.net
