Lorrayne Lund

Lorrayne Delores (Wegner) Lund was born on March 24, 1924 in Lucan, MN to Alfred and Katherine (Crouse) Wegner. She was baptized May 11, 1924 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan. Lorrayne graduated from Walnut Grove High School. Lorrayne was united in marriage to Donald Arthur Lund on April 11, 1945. To this union three children were born; Sharon, Greg and Mike. Lorrayne was a homemaker, and also helped out as a city clerk in Walnut Grove. The couple moved to Alexandria after retirement to live on Lake Ida. Lorrayne enjoyed dancing, traveling and spending winters in Arizona. Spending time at the lake and fishing with Donald. She loved being with family, especially her grandchildren. Lorrayne died on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 84. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Wanda) Lund of Walnut Grove and Michael (Bonnie) Lund of Mankato; four grandchildren, Sara (Travis) Bitker, Jenny, Ryan, and Olivia Lund; great-granddaughter, Avery Bitker; sisters, Alma and Gala; and several nieces and nephews. Lorrayne was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Katherine; husband, Donald; daughter, Sharon Ann Lund; brothers, Harold, Donald, and Gordon; and sisters, Bertha, Elaine. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove with Reverend Trevor Bailey officiating. Organist was Lynn Swanson. Interment was held in the Walnut Grove City Cemetery. Honorary Urnbearers were Sara Bitker, Jenny Lund, Ryan Lund, and Olivia Lund. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
