C. Louise Barsness Cora Louise Barsness was born on June 201, 1914 in Paullina, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Martha (Hemmen Nodland) Nali. She grew up in Starbuck, MN and graduated from Starbuck High School. She married Peder Barsness and together they had five children. They raised their family on a farm near Starbuck and Farwell, MN. After Peder retired from farming they moved to Granite Falls, MN. Peder died in 1968 and Louise then moved to Alexandria. She worked as a cook for Knute Nelson until her retirement. Louise?s favorite hobby was crocheting, which, she learned from her mother. Louise?s patience, and unassuming ways, her quiet subtle sense of humor, and her ready smiles were admired by those who knew her. She liked to travel, and her three trips to Norway were remembered well, especially her 80th birthday trip. C. Louise Barsness died on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Knute Nelson at the age of 95 years old. She is survived by her children Ardis (Maurice) Dosdall of Paynesville, MN; Mary (Stan) Norlien of Alexandria; Max (Mary Ann) Barsness of Osakis, MN; Linda (Steve) Olson of Annandale, MN; grandchildren Brad Madsen, Jeff (Debbie) Madsen, David (Teri) Madsen, Peter (Robin) Madsen, Tracy (Gary) Statema, Dawn (David) Prchal, Jana (Steve) Maack, Scott (Sherry) Norlien, Kristin (Todd) Christofilis, Manette (Mike) McCormick, Marilee (Tommy) Hutton, Stephany (Dave) Stromme, Cory Olson, and Kyle Olson; 26 Great Grandchildren; 6 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Peder; infant son; parents Andrew and Martha Nali; brother Ernest Nali; and son-in-law Don Madsen. A funeral service was held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Sherry Billberg officiating. Randy Morken played the organ, Patrick Kalina was the soloist, and Reverend Greg Billberg sang the Norwegian hymn Storda Feda Flock. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Starbuck, MN. Casket Bearers were Louise?s grandsons Brad Madsen, Jeff Madsen, Dave Madsen, Peter Madsen, Scott Norlien, Cory Olson, and Kyle Olson. Honorary Casket Bearers were Louise?s granddaughters Dawn Prchal, Jana Maack, Kristin Christofilis, Manette McCormick, Tracy Statema, and Stephany Stromme.
