Lucille Evelyn Brackin was born February 19, 1926 in Alexandria, MN the daughter of Harvey and Lorena (Reynolds) Brackin. She lived on her parents? farm near Nelson before moving to a home on Brown?s Point Rd. between Lake Darling and Lake Le Homme Dieu in Alexandria. When Sis was six years old her mother died. Sis continued living with her father until his death in the 1980?s. Immediately following her graduation from high school Sis began working as a receptionist and scheduler for the Alexandria Veterinary Clinic. She worked at the clinic for over forty years, retiring in the mid 1980?s. Sis enjoyed visiting with the local farmers and pet owners. She loved to travel, especially by automobile. Sis appreciated cars, loved to drive them and owned several Cadillacs throughout the years. Sis enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. Sis spent time watching the Wheel of Fortune with her family. She was very proud of her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Sis enjoyed music and loved to listen to her grand nephews as they entertained her with their music. Sis moved into the Home of Tom and Joy Brackin for the last year of her life where she could enjoy the music provided by her great nephew Pete. She also got to frequently enjoy spending time with her great great niece McKenzie. On Saturday, October 31, 2009 Sis passed away at the age of eighty-three years at her home near Lake Andrew. Her parents and one brother Lloyd Brackin preceded her in death. Sis is survived by her nieces and nephews, Douglas Brackin of Fifty Lakes, MN, Barb Winter and husband, Rod, of Leander, TX, Tom Brackin and wife, Joy, of Alexandria, Patricia Farrow of Sartell, MN, Tim Brackin of Alexandria, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Shawn, of Alexandria; many great nieces and nephews; and many great great nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Rev. John Peshek officiated. Karen Gladen and Randy Morken provided music. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket bearers included Jesse Brackin, Samuel Brackin, Peter Brackin, Thomas Brackin, Thomas Marthaler and Shawn Johnson, Honorary casket bearers included McKenzie Brackin, Dr. Gene Karnis, Dr. William Luckemeyer and Dr. Dan Hartsell. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
