Luella Martha Lydia Froemming Woessner was born August 24, 1905 in Leaf Valley, Douglas County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Schoeneck) Froemming. Luella went to Country School No. 23 in Leaf Valley. Rev. Klevano confirmed her in Ebenezer Lutheran Church in 1927. Luella, together with her parents and brother, Erwin, moved to Fergus Falls, MN in 1927. There she studied music at Park Region College and became organist of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. While residing in Fergus Falls Luella was also employed in a bakery and later at Woolworth?s. In 1933 Luella was married to Harry Woessner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls by Rev. Friedrich. The couple moved to Finlayson, MN where they lived for a number of years while Harry was employed in the creamery there and Luella acted as organist of Zion Lutheran Church. The couple later moved to Alexandria, MN where their two children, Harry, Jr. and MarVella were born. During the next thirty years Harry worked at Alexandria Co-Op Creamery and Luella was a music teacher, as well as a Sunday School teacher, at Zion Lutheran Church. Luella also acted as organist for the German Services held at Zion and as organist for special occasions. After retirement Harry and Luella moved to Fergus Falls and lived there until 1972 before moving back to Alexandria where Luella continued to be organist for Good Shepherd Church. They continued to live the next thirty-nine years in Alexandria until their deaths. In addition to her great love of music, Luella loved to sew, garden and to bake goodies for her family at Christmas time. Luella is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bertha Froemming; son, Harry, Jr.; husband, Harry Woessner; and grandson, Mark Swanberg; as well as six brothers, Albert, Alfred, Edward, Walter, Erhard and Erwin; and three sisters, Adele, Francis and lrene. She is survived by her daughter, MarVella Playle and special friend Bill Bustrom of Blaine, MN; granddaughter, Debra Macheledt (Tom) of Battle Lake, MN; and. granddaughter Janice Swanberg of Burnsville, MN; as well as eight great grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Nicole and Samantha Swanberg and Connie Jo (Macheledt) & Wikus Combrink, Michael and Tyrell Macheledt; a great great granddaughter, Kensie Jo Combrink; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, November 28, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend Terry Finnern and Reverend William Moeller officiated. Lynette Finnern provided music. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Honorary casket bearers included DuWayne Schoeneck and Reuben Froemming. Casket bearers included Joshua Swanberg, Michael Macheledt, Connie & Wikus Combrink, Tyrell Macheledt, Nicole Swanberg, and Sammy Swanberg. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
