Luke Boelter

Luke Timothy Boelter was born on November 17, 1991 just after the famous Halloween blizzard in New Praque, Minnesota to Darrell and Lorinda (Baker) Boelter. The family lived in Henderson, MN and moved to Alexandria in October of 1993. Luke graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria with the class of 2010. He started working at McDonald's until he started college. Luke attended Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN. In November of 2014, he went to work for Cellular Communications/Verizon as a sales associate where he was currently still employed.
Luke loved anime, playing Pokemon and photography. Luke especially loved penguins! His pride and joy was his 2014 mini cooper that he won at Mystic Lake Casino. Luke had dreams of going to France and being a freelance writer. He will be remembered as a very loving, kind, and polite person with a little jokester mixed in. Luke was very compassionate, and was the first one to help if someone needed anything. He was also a very determined young man which was shown in his relentless search for his mom's dog, Loopy. Last spring, Luke promised his mom he would bring Loopy home and he did that exactly 5 weeks to the day.
Luke died from a short, but fierce battle with a rare blood disease on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 25. He is survived by his mama, Lorinda Boelter of Alexandria; dad, Darrell Boelter of St. Paul; brother, Jamie (Talisa) Boelter of Marlton, NJ; sister, Megan (fiancé, Andrew Brinkman) Boelter of Carlos; nephew and niece, Nathan and Rosalie Boelter; and maternal grandmother, Phyllis Baker of Alexandria; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Luke is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Baker; and paternal grandparents, Ora and Mary Boelter.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
