Lyle Francis Lanigan of Alexandria passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Bethany on the Lakes. Lyle Lanigan (Slim) was born on May 20, 1942, to Michael and Marie (Doebber) Lanigan. Lyle graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 1960. Soon after he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1960-1964. He was stationed on Midway Island. He worked various jobs throughout his life including block laying and maintenance positions. He enjoyed baseball, both playing and watching. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. Lyle spent a lot of time on Lake Jesse catching his limit. Lyle served as the commander of the VFW for 2 terms. He enjoyed visiting with people and always had a cold beer for anyone who stopped by. Lyle married the love of his life, Carol Hesse, on October 17, 1998. They enjoyed going to the casinos together, several trips to Mexico and spending time with family and friends. Lyle is preceded in death by his wife Carol (Hesse) Lanigan, his parents Mike and Marie Lanigan, his sister Pat Heidelberger, brothers Darrel and John Lanigan and nephew Jeremy Lanigan. Lyle is survived by daughters Ann (Chuck) Heath and Sheri (Jeff)Turba and son Lyle Lanigan Jr. (fiancé Bonni Thompson), sisters Marilyn (Steve) Honebrink, Cindy (Duey) Jantzen, brothers Jerry Lanigan (Luann Hammerschmidt), Kevin (Barb) Lanigan, brother-in-law Tom Heidelberger, sister-in-law Theresa Lanigan, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank all of our family and friends for visiting with dad, bringing over meals, the many phone calls and providing support after Carol passed away. A special thank you to Cindy Jantzen. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Military honors will be by Alexandria Funeral Honor Guard.
