Lyle Ripley

Lyle Bernard Ripley, 94, of Alexandria, passed away on July 30, 2013. Lyle was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, on May 19, 1919, to Harley and Gladys (Buffington) Ripley. Lyle was married to Esther Pauline Tonsfeldt on July 9, 1938, in Flandreau, South Dakota; this July, they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. For much of his early life, Lyle worked as a farmer on land six miles east of Pipestone. After retiring from farming, he owned the Sunny Hollow Resort on Lake Latoka in Alexandria for a few years, and later invested in real estate. Lyle always enjoyed a good game of cards and spending time with family. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Esther; his sons Harlan (Beverly) Ripley of Loveland, Colorado, Roger Ripley of Alexandria, and Verdeen (Sheri) Ripley of Alexandria; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; his siblings Ninabelle Moore, Robert (Mavis) Ripley, Lyman Ripley, Dolly Carstensen, Darwin (Pat) Ripley, Sarah Cooper, Dianne (Tony) Stone, and many nieces and nephews. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Gerald, Charles, Keith and Vernon. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Tim Sutton officiating. Interment was held in New Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
