Mabel Mae Anderson, age 90, of Starbuck, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN. She was born on May 16, 1920, in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Julius and Stephina Schaffer. She was raised in Heron Lake, Minnesota and was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith in Heron Lake. Mabel attended the Heron Lake School District. Mabel was married to Louis Anderson on December 26, 1934, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This union was blessed with three children. The couple also welcomed her siblings, Eugene (Dick) and Bennett (Buck) into their family after the death of their mother, Stephina. The couple farmed most of their married life. They started in Southern Minnesota and moved to the Cyrus?Starbuck area in 1940. They retired from farming in 1975. She than went to work at Pederson?s Super Market in Starbuck, where she worked for 15 � years. Mabel enjoyed time with family and friends. She was an excellent cook. The making of family favorites scalloped potatoes; dumplings and noodles have been passed to younger generations. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening, playing cards, and BINGO. Mabel is survived by her sons: Kenneth (Judy), Darrell (Darleen) and daughter, Donna (Richard); eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; two great grandchildren, parents, four brothers, two sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minnesota with Rev. Todd Klemme officiating. Interment was at the Minnewaska Cemetery in Starbuck. Casket bearers were her grandchildren and honorary casket bearers were her great grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
