Mabel Emma Mrnak was born on September 18, 1923 in Parkers Prairie, MN, the daughter of Christ and Wilhemine (Guderjohn) Eggert. She attended school in Parkers Prairie through the eighth grade. Mabel was united in marriage to Wensel Mrnak on July 14, 1942 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. They began their life together by living in Duluth for two years before they bought a farm in Spruce Hill Township. They farmed for 39 years and raised three boys Dale, Kenneth, and Wayne.
Mabel always worked hard on the farm tending to her gardens, helping Wensel with chores and raising the boys. She always had time to stop what she was doing to help one of her boys or one of her neighbors. In 1981, they moved to Miltona and she worked at resorts around Lake Miltona. She was very active in the Ladies Aide groups at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River and was president of Miltona Senior Club in 1991. Mabel moved to Alexandria in 1995 and had currently resided at Winona Shores. She was an excellent cook always ready to make a meal for anyone who stopped by for a visit. Mabel also liked to bake and her apple pies and angel food cakes were always a favorite to her grandchildren. Some of her hobbies included games of Bingo, Bunco and frequent trips to the casino. Mable was always proud of her independence and enjoyed life with a good sense of humor, lots of colorful jokes, and love for her family.
