Mable Braeger

November 17, 1917 — September 16, 2013

Mable Annie Minnie (Hogan) Braeger, died on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Mable was born on November 17, 1917 in Ida Township the daughter of Isaac and Helena (Dittberner) Hogan. She attended School District #75 through the 8th grade. Mable was baptized and confirmed at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Garfield, Minnesota. Mable was united in marriage to Wesley Braeger on August 20, 1939. The couple made their home on the Hogan farmstead. To this union the couple was blessed with a daughter, LaVonne and a set of twins: Darrel and Darlene. Mable?s family and friends were very important to her. One of her hobbies was collecting over 200 cookbooks from area churches and organizations. She loved trying out new recipes and was a great cook. She always had friends stopping at the farm for her egg coffee and sampling her homemade goodies. Her daughter said she made the best sour cream pie. Mable moved off the farm in 1997, when her sister, Hazel had a stroke and could no longer be with her. She then moved to Bethel Manor Apartments where she made several friends over the eleven years she lived there. In January of 2008, her health started to decline and she moved into Bethany Home. Mable was a person who adjusted well to whatever came her way. She never complained and always saw the good in everyone and showed it with a smile on her face. She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (Davis) Froemming of Alexandria; grandchildren: Tracy Mueller of Petoskey, MI, Amy (Joe) Decker of East Jordan, MI; two great grandchildren: Joshua & Brandon Mueller; daughter-in-law, Karen (Don) Jacobson of Petoskey, MI; sister-in-law, Delores Trisko of Osakis; special niece, Dianne (Gerald) Schoeneck of Alexandria, MN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; infant daughter, Darlene; son, Darrel in 1990; infant granddaughter, Amy Jo Braeger; her parents, sister, Hazel Quast. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at the Kinkead Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
