OBITUARY Madeline (Peggy) Elizabeth Hodson was born on April 7, 1926 in Lackawanna, NY, the daughter of Gladys and Clifford Rucker. She grew up in Hamburg, NY, where her father owned a tavern called the Hitching Post and started to wait on tables and tend bar at a very young age. There she met her future husband Harry Hodson. After Harry got out of the Navy from WWII they were united in marriage on June 4, 1948. Peggy was a homemaker and also operated a few restaurants in her younger years. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She was always willing to lend a few cooking or baking tips to her family. Peggy was a member for 30 years of the Sweet Adalines in Hamburg NY. Her group once performed for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of England in the early 1970?s. Peggy loved her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting slippers and scarves for them and baking goodies for them when they visited. She will be remembered by her clich� ?Tough Beans?. Madeline (Peggy) Hodson age 84 of Evansville, MN died on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the home of a friend while receiving loving care from the Douglas County Hospice Program. She is survived by her four children Curtis (Jane) Hodson of Hamburg, NY; Mark Hodson of Blasdell, NY; Cynthia (Rayburn) Urness of Frost, MN; and Tracy (Timothy) McCarthy of Kenmore NY. Surviving grandchildren are Rosemary (Brian) Donahue, Lynn Hodson, James (Mandy) Allen, Jasmin Murawski, John Campos, Sean and Christopher McCarthy; nine great grandchildren Conner, Ashley, Michael, Erin, Loren, Jamie, Adailas, Hanna, and Keira. A memorial service was held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Mark Astrup officiating. Kim Byrne provided music for the service.
