Magdalene Trousil

May 8, 1918 — September 24, 2015

Magdalene Rose Trousil was born on May 8, 1918 in Lake Mary Township. She was one of six children born to Frank and Mary (Bosek) Dvorsak. Magdalene attended school district #14 through the eighth grade and then worked on neighboring farms. Magdalene went to Chicago and worked at a textile factory for about a year. She returned to Alexandria and married her neighborhood sweetheart, John Trousil. They were united in marriage on June 29, 1943 and had three daughters Marie, Margaret, and Mary Lou.

Magdalene raised her daughters and worked alongside her husband on the farm. She raised chickens, gardened, canned vegetables, and was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her family favorites like rohlicky and cinnamon rolls. Magdalene lovingly made quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed a good game of cards. Magdalene participated in birthday celebrations and visits with her were fun and full of grandma’s love. Magdalene was loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Magdalene never let her age determine her ability to be active in any activity. She traveled with John, to states like Texas, Alaska, FL, and MI. She was a lifetime member at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. She belonged to a mission circle and helped with the Fall Bazaar. Magdalene spent six years living at Bethel Manor. She was an active participant in birthday parties, cards, bingo, and led Rosary.

Magdalene R. Trousil died on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in Alexandria at the age of 97 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Trousil, daughter Marie, granddaughter Ashley Klimek, sister Eleanora Chermak, brothers Raymond and Robert Dvorsak, and infant sibling Evelyn.
