Malcolm was born in Madelia, MN on January 6, 1924.  He attended Madelia High School, and graduated in 1941.  He also attended the U of M, where he met, and married, Anita Tricker on March 10, 1945.

He served, in the army, at Camp Roberts in California.  Following his military service, he began farming near Garvin, MN, from 1949 until he retired in 1983, when he and Anita moved to Lake Ida, near Alexandria.

He and Anita enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, fishing, gardening, and time with their family.  They raised 2 daughters, Pat (Mike) Wright of LeGrand, Iowa, and Becky (Bernie) Shea of Alexandria.  Their son, Mark, died in an auto accident in 1973.

Anita passed away in 2010 after a lengthy illness.

Malcolm was active in his church and faith.  He had a great sense of humor and wit.

Malcolm and Tassie Satterlie were married August 27, 2011 in Alexandria and resided at Grand Arbor.  The couple enjoyed baking cookies, gardening, visiting and just being together.  Vicki Satterlie Fosburg and Karen Holte became Mac’s step daughters. They also enjoyed going on drives, and fishing adventures.

Malcolm died in the Douglas County Hospital on January 13 of natural causes with his loved ones around him.

He is survived by his wife, Tassie, 2 daughters, 2 step daughters, 5 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren, and a brother, James McLean.
