Marcella Brendle went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of ninety. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whom will be deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich, South Dakota, with a visitation taking place that day one hour prior at the church. A visitation will take place at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN, on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with a prayer service starting at 6:30.
Marcella Martha Brendle was born on June 23, 1926, the youngest of twenty-one children to Wendelin and Marcelinus (Fischer) Dosch of Mina, South Dakota. Marcella was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich, SD. She graduated from a catholic boarding school and then started working in one of the local café's. It was while working in that café that she unknowingly met the love of her life, John Brendle. The two were united in marriage on March 1, 1949. This union was blessed with eight children. The couple moved out to Colorado in 1951, then moved to Alexandria, MN in 1966 and settled in Carlos in 1968.
As a child Marcella learned how to play the piano, organ and accordion. These talents she enjoyed throughout her life and passed on the love of music to her children. She also loved dancing, which she taught each of her children how to dance in the foyer of their home. She also enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, horses, and caring for cats that wandered in and out of her life. She relished reading her subscription to the Ipswich Tribune. Marcella could often be found cooking and whipping up some of her famous baked goods. She frequently donated these bake goods for sales and benefits over the years. She was a lifetime member of the Moose/Moose Hearts Organization in Pueblo, CO, Post 67 Legion Auxiliary in Sauk Centre, MN and an active volunteer at St. Mary's Catholic Church since 1967.
Marcella was a beautiful person both inside and out. She inspired her children with her giving, caring and fun-loving personality. Marcella went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of ninety. She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be always loved and deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Lavina Olmscheid, Donna (Don) Rodorigo, Leroy (Theresa) Brendle, Julie (John) Okerberg, Jerald Brendle, Janice (Mike) Thomas, Gary (Sara Meis- special friend) Brendle; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Brendle; infant daughter, Sharon; parents, Wendelin and Marcelinus Dosch; twenty siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
