Mardell Christine was born on June 18, 1922, in Cokato, Minnesota the daughter of Louis and Marie (Nylen) Larson. She graduated from Annandale High School and furthered her education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. After finishing her schooling she worked as a secretary at General Hospital in Minneapolis. Mardell was united in marriage to Marshall Dainsberg on November 22, 1947, at the Elim Covenant Church in Minneapolis. After their marriage the couple moved to Delano where they operated Marshall?s clothing store. The Dainsbergs also resided in Minneapolis and Benson before moving to Alexandria in 1999. Mardell and Marshall lived at the Galaxy for a number of years until she had to move to Nelson Gables. Mrs. Dainsberg will be remembered for her love of praising her Lord through her music. She enjoyed playing her Swedish harp for the residents of nursing homes. Mardell was very involved in her church, the First Evangelical Free Church, in Benson, as the organist and pianist for twenty-five years. She was also instrumental in starting a neighborhood bible study in 1972 for all faiths in Benson (which still exists today). Another love of hers was to bake rolls and banana cream pie. She also enjoyed composing the annual family Christmas card complete with her original poems. The Dainsbergs were recognized as Minnesota Volunteer Couple of the Year for the Minnesota Mental Health Association. Mardell also served as volunteer at the Willmar State Hospital. Mardell died on Tuesday, May 06, 2008, at the Nelson Gables in Alexandria. She is survived by her husband, Marshall of Alexandria; Sons: Dean of Alexandria; Dan & wife, Maryanne of Green Bay, WI, Don & wife, Terri of Eden Prairie, MN; daughter, Diane & husband, Lloyd Patterson of Cape Coral, FL; eight grandchildren, brother, Donald & wife, Audrey Larson of Knoxville, TN; sister, Aileen Eklund Lundeen & husband, Carroll of Eden Prairie. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held on May 8, 2008 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Alexandria with Pastor John LeVahn, Pastor Rol Boyce and Pastor Reed Egerstrom. Pallbearers were Dean Dainsberg, Dan Dainsberg, Don Dainsberg, Brian Dainsberg, Kim Dainsberg, and Wayne Eklund. Burial was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home
