Margaret Merle Pikop was born on September 5, 1920, in Morris, MN. She attended grade school and graduated from Morris High School on June 13, 1938. Margaret met Donald Pikop in Elbow Lake, MN. They were united in marriage on March 13, 1941, and had two children, Donn and Sharon. The couple farmed in Elbow Lake Township until 1981. Upon retirement, they built a home on Ten Mile Lake near Dalton, MN. They enjoyed retirement life with trips to Arizona, Florida, Norway, and England. They also enjoyed listening and dancing to Big Band music and playing cards with friends. Margaret took the role of caregiver for two years when her husband developed brain cancer. After his death in 1988, she continued to live at the lake until she moved to Alexandria in 1997. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Margaret M. Pikop died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at her home in her sleep at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her son Donn Pikop of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Sharon Range of Alexandria; grandson Ross Range of Alexandria; cousins Doris Benson of Morris, MN and Tilford Hellie Jr. of St. Croix Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald Pikop and brother Lloyd McDonald. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend John Peshek officiating. Inurnment was in the Ness Cemetery near Elbow Lake, MN. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
