Margaret Rosengren

July 6, 1922 — November 26, 1943

Margaret Louise (Anderson) Rosengren was born July 6, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN to Victor and Emelia (Ostlund) Anderson. She graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis and attended one year at Augsburg College for nursing. At the age of 16, Margaret attended Lake Koronis Bible Camp where she met Wally. They were united in marriage on November 26, 1943, at the First Evangelical Free Church in Minneapolis. They had 67 wonderful years together. Margaret was a homemaker and an amazing seamstress. Her daughters and daughter-in-law were proud to wear wedding dresses that she created. She made all the clothing for her children when they were young, including coats. She even sewed for friends outside the family. Margaret was a devout Christian and an active member of the Alexandria Covenant Church which she and Wally joined just one year after it was established. She did the church bulletin for over 20 years, played the piano for 31 years, and sang in the choir for 50 years. She was involved in missionary circle and women?s Bible studies. Margaret enjoyed reading and embroidery, which she taught to her granddaughters. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family gatherings at the Lake Ida cabin were very special to her. She and Wally loved to travel, making three trips to Sweden and visiting all but two of the United States. They spent 18 winters in Arizona, two in Florida and one in Texas, making many good friends and memories. Margaret went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the age of ninety. She is survived by her children Carol Latterell of Woodbury, Sandy McLauchlin of Minneapolis, Marie Rosengren (Michael Monahan) of Longmont, CO, and Gary (Lisa) Rosengren of Brooklyn Park; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harold Engberg of Minneapolis; and nieces and nephews. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Walter Rosengren, two sons-in-law Dennis McLauchlin and Tom LaHerell and sister Marilyn Engberg. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at Nelson Gables. Margaret was a resident there the past five years and enjoyed her life there very much. A funeral service was held Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria with Reverend John LeVahn officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mertice Brueske, soloist, Don Gilberg, and pianist, Nancy Holm. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Casket bearers were John Kelly, Christian Earle, Brett Latterell, Brandon Latterell, Adam Rosengren, Erik Monahan. Honorary casket bearers were Andrea Bye, Kristen Rosengren, Kelly Rosengren, and Kathleen Monahan. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
