Margery Helen Jensen

Margery Jensen, age 90 of Alexandria passed away at her home at Grand Arbor in Alexandria on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Memorial services will be held at Grand Arbor on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a public visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.

Margery Helen (Bisgaard) Jensen was born January. 2, 1934; or, as she liked to say, on 1-2-3-4, to Ivan and Clara (Kling) Bisgaard in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was one of four children who grew up on the family farm until the fifth grade, when she moved into town to live with her grandparents.

She graduated from high school in Montevideo and then moved to Alexandria to become a bank teller, which is where she met the love of her life, James Jensen. The two were married on October 8, 1955 and welcomed three children: Jayne, Janet and Bob. Before the children were born, Marge and James followed Jim’s sister to California, where they would remain until moving back to Excelsior, Minnesota in 1967.

While back in Minnesota, Margery worked several different clerical jobs, including keeping books for Ferguson Keller and Cy DeCosse Publishing. In 1993, Marge and Jim made their long awaited move from Eden Prairie, to their newly built retirement home on Lake Darling in Alexandria, MN. It was there where she could finally have her dream garden, receiving compliments from all that passed by. She also became quite the photagrapher, taking pictures of her front yard wildlife, extreme lake weather, and her family and friends. She loved hosting family reunions at the lake, combing the beaches in Destin, FL, casino trips with friends, cruises, and volunteering at the bookmobile.

After James’s passing in July of 2021, Margery found little joy in her usual activities but would still cherish many more memories with her children and grandchildren, and sitting outside in the sun. Just two days before her passing, Marge enjoyed a wonderful day on a pontoon on Lake Le Homme Dieu with her friends at Grand Arbor. Margery passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jayne Dodds (Thomas Furlong) of Alexandria, Janet (Timothy) Emery of Savage and Bob (Kim) Jensen of Jordan, MN, grandchildren: Thomas (Jenny) Dodds, Katie (Travis) Beckwith, Kevin (Anna) Jensen, Kellie Marie (Jake) Belski, Adam Emery, Alexander Emery, Brooke Emery, Sydney Emery; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Kittleson; and many other beloved family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jim; and siblings: Kenneth and Ivan Junior.
