Margie Kleven

Margie Llaine Kleven was born on May 10, 1955 in Alexandria, MN the only daughter of Edwin and Viola Johnson. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973 and then worked at Bethany Home for about 10 years. She married Barlow Hay in 1974 and together they had one son Trevor. Margie also worked with Project New Hope in Alexandria and District #206 as a special education para. She married Rodney Hanson Jr. in 1987. In 1995, Margie began working for the State of Minnesota and cared for adults with special needs in the Alexandria area until 2003.

Margie met Bob Kleven and they were united in marriage on June 30, 2001 at the Finnish Apostolic Church in Holmes City Township. Together they lived in Alexandria and enjoyed traveling, going to Vikings games, and attending concerts. Margie enjoyed people watching and hanging around home taking care of her dogs. Some hobbies of hers included gardening and flower arranging. She entered her floral arrangements into the Douglas County Fair resulting in many awards.

Margie was a fun and loving woman who had a special place in her heart for children with special needs. She loved her grandchildren and she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Margie L. Kleven died on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 surrounded by her family at Bethany Home at the age of 59 years old. She is survived by her husband Bob Kleven of Alexandria, son Trevor (Bobbi) Hay of Alexandria; grandchildren Zach and Kennedi Hay of Alexandria; step-son Paul Kleven of Minneapolis; her two loving dogs Snickers and Shelby; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Neil Johnson and Gerald McClellan.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11AM at New Life Christian Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 4-7PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
