Marie Ellen (Woodford) Jenzen was born on July 7, 1927 in Redwood County, MN to Roy Francis and Bertha Madge (Freeman) Woodford. She grew up on the family farm southeast of Redwood Falls and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. Marie was united in marriage to Wayne Jenzen on July 28, 1947 in Estherville, IA. The couple made their home in Springfield, MN and to this union the couple was blessed with 3 children, Wayne, Michael and Ellen. In 1969, the family moved to Alexandria for their love of the lakes and made there home on Lake Brophy. Marie continued to be a homemaker and worked as the bookkeeper for Wayne?s masonry construction business. Marie enjoyed the lake, nature, reading, playing cards and laughing. Most importantly, Marie loved to be with her family, especially the grandchildren and was always there for her family. Marie died on Monday, February 8, 2010 at her home at the age of 82. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Jr. (Nancy) Jenzen of Alexandria and Michael (Clarice) Jenzen of Garfield; daughter, Ellen (Richard) Warzecha of Cross Lake, MN; grandchildren, Valery (Chris) Hoover, Shane (Sheila) Jenzen, Virgil Jenzen, Beau (Anne) Oium, Neil (Kelly) Jenzen, Michel (Jay) Grotrian, Blair Oium, Alicia (D.J.) Lein, MacKenzie Oium and Cara (Bill) Bryant; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Helen, Lillian, and Eileen Woodford, Lorraine Crannage, Marilyn Wallace, and Lee, Linda, Joyce and Mildred Jenzen; brother-in-law, Jack Fedell; and many nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bertha; husband, Wayne Jenzen Sr.; six brothers, Fred, Elmo, Leroy, William, Donald and Robert; and four sisters, Thelma, Elizabeth, Lucille and Jane. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Greg Billberg officiating. Music was provided by organist, Randy Morken and soloist, Sue Edwards. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery. Casket bearers were Marie?s grandchildren, Valery, Shane, Virgil, Beau, Neil, Michel, Blair, Alicia, Mackenzie and Cara. Honorary casket bearers were Monte and Sandie Eggen and Marie?s great-grandchildren, Anna, Cole, Aron, Amanda, Samantha, Alexandra, Allison, Campbell, Max, Benet, Blaize, Bentley, Beyla, Eva, Tate, Spencer, William, Tanner, Kaitlyn, and Emily.
