Marie Ramsay

Marie Wacker was born January 8, 1935 in New Prague, MN, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Mahowald) Wacker. Following high school she attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Marie worked at Dayton?s Department Store. On May 29, 1957 Marie was united in marriage to Robert Ramsay in Anoka, MN. The couple made their home in Blaine, MN for seven years before moving to Burnsville, MN. They were blessed with five children. Marie began working at Camera Art as an office worker. After more than twenty years with Camera Art Marie retired. Following retirement the couple moved to the Alexandria, MN area where they had spent their summer weekends since the 1960?s. Marie enjoyed spending time making afghans, blankets and clothing for her family and friends. She visited Kentucky to be with her family and attended several Kentucky Derbies. Marie also liked playing backgammon and was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time on her porch watching the birds and squirrels. On Friday, June 19, 2008 Marie died at the age of seventy-three years. Her husband, Robert Ramsay, preceded her in death. Marie is survived by her son, Kenneth and wife, Wendi Ramsay, of Peoria, IL; four daughters, Terri and husband, Rick Scacutto, of Savage, MN, Tami Raine of Grand Marais, MN, Ann and husband, Kurt Seurer, of Jordan, MN and Susan and husband, David Fortner, of Louisville, KY; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Jason Vincent, Angela Scacutto and husband, Bob Hissam, Kristen Scacutto, Joseph Raine, Matt and Andrea Seurer and Devin Fortner. A funeral service was held Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Rev. Joan Wittrock was the officiant. Interment followed on Tuesday in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
