Marilyn Joan (Wills) Graczyk was born on May 14, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lawrence and Josephine (Connor) Wills. She was born and raised in South Minneapolis where she was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Faith.
Marilyn married Jim Stanton and to this union the couple was blessed with three children, Gary, Stephen and Barbara. She worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for many years and later worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis where she met and married Leo Bye until his death in 1989. Marilyn retired from the Federal Reserve Bank at the age of 60. After retiring, she became certified as a nurse's assistant at Unity Hospital in Fridley. Marilyn married Richard Graczyk on June 22, 1991 and the couple resided in Plymouth. They moved to Alexandria in April of 2003 to be closer to her children and grandchildren where she joined the United Methodist Church.
Marilyn was outgoing and could spark up a conversation with anyone. She was a talker, laugher, fun loving and fast to forgive. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing. Marilyn loved reading, cooking, traveling going to craft shows and playing poker with friends and family. Most importantly, she loved her two cats, Sara and Charlie, watching the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn died on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 85. She is survived by her sons, Gary Stanton of Florida, and Stephen (Colleen) Stanton Sr. of Alexandria; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Gilbertson of Alexandria; grandchildren, Rexford, Steve, Brian and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Roxanne, Valentine, Jasmine, Presley, and Colin; and great-great-granddaughter, Monica. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Josephine; previous husband, Leo Bye; and husband, Richard Graczyk.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Craig Haberman officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
